My collection continues to expand!

It Came From Japan

I took Tony and Diesel to the beach as a birthday surprise. While we were there we got a chance to see the 70ft dock that had washed up as part of the aftermath of the massive storm in Japan. This giant mass of concrete can be found at Agate Beach.

Summer Rain

I had planned to go hiking with my mom and Diesel, but when I arrived Sunday morning it was pouring outside. Thanks a lot July… We instead opted to bake cookies and spend the afternoon doing collage.

That’s her “ah ha! It’s finished!” face. That’s the best part of collage- when ¬†you know a piece is complete.

Sick Wood

I knew the moment I saw it that Tony had to have it for Julymas. That was 4 months ago. When I was getting my last tattoo, I noticed my shop was selling these gorgeous Santa Cruz skateboards. I grabbed up one for Tony and hid it at boss lady’s house for the months leading up to July. Tony was so stoked when I gave it to him as his final and biggest Julymas present. Here are some pictures from his first ride on his new sick wood.

I even took a spin on it and damn if I wasn’t hooked. I think I’m gonna need one too!

The boys had a blast skating together

Now time for some liquid refreshment. Good thing his skateboard double as a bottle opener!

Unhappy Friday the 13th!

Brothers Forever

On July 4th, Tony’s uncle Bob (his fathers twin brother) passed away. Tony’s father had passed away only a short 6 months before that on Christmas eve. Everyone is so sad that he’s gone but also find comfort knowing that they will be together again.

At the funeral their brother Randy read a story from the very talented brother Rich (who lives in California and wasn’t able to make it out for the funeral) and spoke a few words of his own.

Image

Then the soldiers proceeded to fold the flag and sound of shots in Bob’s honor.

Image

Image

The flag was given to Bob’s mother

Image

Beautiful little prayer cards were handed out to everyone.

Image

It was truly a beautiful military funeral.

We visited Ron while we were there as well

Image

Tony left him a little present he knew would be appreciated

Image

We couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful day to celebrate the life of Bob. May he rest in peace with his brother.

Summer Raspberries

On the morning of the Fourth of July, Diesel and I headed over to Tim & Justin’s to help pick raspberries. It was a perfect day for it as it was FINALLY starting to feel like summer.

We were rewarded for our efforts with ice tea, otter pops, and of course fresh picked raspberries!

None of which lasted very long!

New Book!

I just started a new book. So far I’m having a hard time putting it down!

Too the Zoo!

Boss lady has a hook up to get free zoo tickets and with the weatherman promise of sunny weather on my day off I thought Diesel & I would go.

Image

Image

My friend Brooke and her little brother decided to come along too!

Image

The animals seemed to be out in full force so it was a great day for taking pictures!

As you can tell the heat was making some of the animals sleepy. The animals below were my favorite from the day because they seemed to love to pose and show off for the cameras!

Image

Image

Image

After a couple hours of walking we stopped for pizza and ice cream

Image

Afterward we hit up a few of the other zoo sights, like one of my personal favorites- the Atrium.

Image

Image

We got to ogle even more impressive birds on the lawn.

Image

Image

We checked out the mini elephant museum with a life sized elephant skeleton

Image

Diesel of course found the one football related display in the whole zoo

Image

and lots of other fun little things

Last but certainly not least, we decided to catch the zoo train for a leisurely 35 minute ride.

We had a great time and¬†although¬†we didn’t get any sunshine, the weather held up pretty nicely and we escaped sunburn free!

Fat City Cafe

Tony and I both had Friday off this week, so we decided to go to breakfast after dropping Diesel off at day camp

Image

Image

We headed out to one of our favorite breakfast spots from our old neighborhood called Fat City Cafe. This is where we originally discovered our love for Aardvark Hot Sauce. It’s a tiny breakfast/lunch diner (probably has the smallest bathroom I’ve ever seen too!) covered in funny license plates and¬†road trip¬†memorabilia.

Image

The food is always to die for! I indulged in peach waffles, bacon, & a half order of biscuits and gravy (which I was unable to finish).

Image

Our waiter was a riot and sang along to the great tunes they had going (such as Bad to the Bone and other favorites of the like).

Image

On the walk (more like waddle) back to the car I couldn’t help but admire the beautiful spring flowers. I snapped a couple shots before Tony threatened to leave without me.

A great kid-free morning all around!
